“The sovereign voluntary path to cheerfulness, if your cheerfulness be lost, is to sit up cheerfully and to act and speak as if cheerfulness were already there.”
The brilliant American philosopher William James already understood the power of intention back in the 1800’s. In its simplest permutation, if you want to be happy, be happy. It is as easy and as difficult as that. No, it doesn’t happen as miraculously as one thought. However, the path to any desired state is a small step in that direction. If you want to be happy, imagine what your life looks and feels like in that state. Who are you with? What are you doing? Begin today to take actions toward that state of happiness you have envisioned. I’ll be right here cheering you on.
