“I dread success.  To have succeeded is to have finished one’s business on earth, like the male spider, who is killed by the female the moment he has succeeded in courtship.  I like a state of continual becoming, with a goal in front and not behind.”

~George Bernard Shaw

Or, said in another way, the joy is in the journey.  Anyone who has ever achieved a goal knows that the reality of the success is often less exciting than the anticipation of the success.  This is because the real joy is in the ‘continual becoming’; when we know we are on the right path but not yet quite there.  Enjoy the journey!  And when you do reach your journey’s end, don’t dwell too long basking in your glory because glory will quickly fade.  Use the success to start on the next journey toward your ongoing and continual ‘becoming’.  In that way, we are never done and will always have excitement as we move towards our next victory.
