“Try, fail, learn. Try, fail, learn. Try, fail, learn. That’s the leader’s mantra. Leaders are learners. They learn from their failures as well as their successes, and they make it possible for others to do the same.”

~James Kouzes & Barry Posner

Effective leadership is about allowing your people and yourself to try out ideas without undue fear of failure.  Even successful endeavors have elements that do not work as intended.  Whether as a less-than-perfect aspect of a success, or an outright failure, the key to maximizing the learning from any failure, is to be able to reflect, understand what worked and what didn’t, learn from both, and apply to future decisions.  Give yourself and your people this space to safely learn from failures and you will see amazing results!
