“Love is the ultimate motivation of the extreme leader, love of something or someone, love of a cause, love of a principle, love of the people you work with and the customers you serve, love of the future you and yours can create together, love of the business you conduct together every day.  Without the calling and commitment of your heart, there is no good reason for you to take a stand, to take a risk, to do what it takes to change your world for the better.”

~Steve Farber

I have long advocated the need to include “love” in the leadership discussion.  Without the passion, commitment, and character that love implies, nothing we do has real meaning.  And as a leader, our effectiveness largely relies upon our ability to provide meaning for our people.  This is true for leading in the workplace, a community organization, a family, or a single relationship.  Authentic love inspires commitment, action, perseverance, empathy, and reciprocation.  Love with all your heart and let it show in your words and in your actions.
