“Never mind what others do; do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day, and you are a success.”

~William J.H. Boetcker

So much time is wasted comparing ourselves negatively to others. Each of us is a unique person with our own context, challenges, skills, and capabilities.  There is value in looking at others’ success stories for clues on choices, attitudes, and ways they resolved challenges, overcame obstacles, and learned.  But that is where the observation should end and your own reflection begins.

Where are you today?  What are your aspirations personally and professionally?  What skills and capabilities do you own?  What actions can you take in this moment to propel you forward and be a better you?  Each move forward is a moment of success.  Savor it and take your next step.  And should you falter, don’t despair.  Reflect, learn, and move again.
