“The tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.”

Despite all the encouragement given through social media, literature and others to craft strong goals to provide us with strong direction in our lives, a large percentage of people actually operate with no clearly defined goals at all. They may exist on a very basic level of subsistence living: earning enough money to eat, pay the rent, and maybe burn the rest on various forms of entertainment. Even if they somehow manage to make a decent living, they rarely achieve much and blame others for their lack of achievement. This is a tragedy indeed.
Virtually everyone has the ability to improve their situation dramatically by developing a few meaningful goals in their personal and professional lives, and taking action daily to move towards achievement of those goals. I’m not here to judge those who don’t lead purposeful lives. But I do encourage everyone to examine your own situation and reflect on the goals you have (hopefully) set for yourself, and what actions you’re taking to achieve them.
Without goals, life is an aimless journey with likely less-than-optimum destinations possible. With goals, carefully crafted and aligned with your core values, life is a purpose-driven journey with optimum results likely.
What are your goals? What actions are you taking today to make progress?
