“‘Life’s too short’ is repeated often enough to be a cliché, but this time it’s true. You don’t have enough time to be both unhappy and mediocre. It’s not just pointless, it’s painful. Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you ought to set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”
~Seth Godin
In these times of unlimited possibility and choices, it is our responsibility to engineer a life that has meaning, balance and purpose. A life we are grateful to have, despite the challenges and requirements to continually learn and evolve that all people face.
Don’t define a good life or happiness based on everything going your way and having no problems. That is a fool’s errand. The key is to choose a life in which you take ownership of your choices and take action daily to continuously add value and improve your own situation and the lives of those around you. This includes your choice of occupation, life partner, friends, and associations. For the vast majority of people, and certainly for virtually all my readers, these choices are ours to make.
Own your choices – don’t blame others or circumstances. Craft the life that you are grateful to have, by the choices you make and the actions you take. Life is definitely too short for any other reality.
