“Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”  – Carl Bard

It is now February 7th.  Are you taking the actions necessary to achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself for 2008 and beyond?  Today’s JAM is a suggestion for a different view on goal setting.

You know how fired up you feel when you set your goals?  Anything is possible, right?  And why not?  You have skills, desire, and opportunity and a whole year ahead of you!

Why not get that sense of renewal and hope throughout the year?   Here’s the trick:  Get rid of the once-a-year “resolution” paradigm.  Instead, look at the idea of “rolling” 12 month periods and chart your updated course every month.  The start of each month is the beginning of a lifetime of rolling 12 month periods!

You just completed January.  Look at the actions you took toward your goals (not the ones you did not) – even the little actions.  Celebrate your progress!  Sing “Auld Lang Syne”, blow a noise maker, and wish yourself a Happy New Year!  Your next rolling 12 month year has begun!

Next week we’ll start looking at tips for setting and keeping goals, handling obstacles, and experiencing achievement.
