“Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they’ve got a second”

~William James

You know this intellectually:  things worth having, achieving, fighting for, etc., are by definition difficult.  The challenge to reach the desired outcome drives much of the satisfaction and joy we experience when we arrive.  However, so often we give up because things don’t happen the way we want initially, or even after many attempts.  “It is just so hard!”

Of course it is hard!  Avoid the despair that drives you to give up by continuously envisioning the desired state and how you will feel when you arrive there.  Find out what a second wind feels like by ensuring you don’t give up before your first wind runs out.
