“It’s a funny thing… but people mostly have it backward. They think they live by what they want. But really, what guides them is what they’re afraid of. What they don’t want.”

~Khaled Hosseini

We benefit by taking action to move toward our desired goals professionally and personally, rather than taking defensive actions out of fear.  And yet it is an unfortunate part of our human nature to be more guided by fear than by desire, unless we choose to use our also very human capacity to fight our nature.

In a world in which we are bombarded by negative inputs, we must take responsibility to both control our exposure to them and to intentionally increase our exposure to positive inputs which we choose.  This takes persistence, courage, and the ability to say “no” when necessary to those people and situations that do not serve us positively.

So realize that without your intense intervention, you will be likely living a life of fear-based avoidance.  Choose to use your better human capacity to be one of the few who consistently takes positive action and gets positive results.  Live by what you want!
